David Copperfield Las Vegas March 2011

Mods I m sorry if this is in the wrong section it seemed the most appropriate more than the Thread on him in Hall of Fame.

Last night I went to see David Copperfield live at MGM and it was excellent.
He definitely has a massive ego and the beginning of teh show was a video on a large screen showing all the tv/films that he has been mentioned in. I did nt realise how many there was..even Presidents have bigged him up!!

But despite his obvious ego and self love ( which if I had had his success would probably be similar lol) the magic was top top draw.

He did a good mix of his grand illusions but also some good "small tricks". He did an amzing one with a piece of paper that he folded origami style to look like a butterfly before producing a real butterly and also did a very good trick where a live scorpion plucked a chosen card from a deck.

He did the old favourite Webster the duck transposition ( I ve seen it on youtube and is a regular one for him I believe) and had a lot of audience interaction ( especially good looking women with large breats it seemed!!)

He did a ring flite trick that amazed my two friends as I had done one in a club the previous evening and also did some clever IT type tricks.

He did a good transposition where he walked " through a switched on giant fan" before appearing at our table and another good one through a solid piece of iron that was very clever.

However his best two were something else.

Firstly he talked at length about his grandad and how they had fell out before he died. This was accompanied by photos of them both in earlier life and explained his grandad fell out with him as he did nt think magic would be a successful job for him (!!)

Anyway it then went on to be a prediction type effect very similar to teh one Derren Brown did at one of his live shows with the locked box above the stage. This one was with lottery numbers however and involved throwing frisbees into the audience for people togive 2 numbers each. What went on a further level than Derren Browns one for me was that a car was involved in the story and the predicted numbers were on two USA style number plates before theh car he talked about was produced on stage in a milli second..with audience members in a circle around it. It was simply breathtaking!!

The second good one was he disappeared 13 membersw of the audience suspended on stage to the back of the theatre. My friend went up on stage as an observer and it freaked him out as he was at the rear of the stage and could see the back of the "tent" that they were held in!!

My friends who are not magicians got a little wound up by his endless self love but there is no denying he is still a great showman and I am thrilled to have seen one of my magic heroes.

Penn and Teller next tonight or tomorrow! Seen them before but love them!!
