A magic effect whilst kissing my girlfriend?

Postby jwardmagic » Apr 6th, '11, 22:38

My girlfriend knows I have been into magic for many years. I'd like to do something romantic for our 'anniversary'. Ideally, I'm thinking of giving her a simple kiss...but as I do maybe ignight some flash string or some smoke effect to make the moment literaly seem 'magical'. Very cheesy I know but she loves my magic, and we love each other so I thought why not do something like that!

Problem is, I can't think of anything! Adding in some mysterious smoke as I kiss her would seem a bit strange...she may think I'm on fire!
And I'm sure she'd see the flash string as we kissed....
I don't want it to seem like an obvious trick, just an 'effect' to add to the experience. Any ideas?

My suggestion would be to drop the magic for the night and instead spoil her rotten. Make the day about her, not about your magic

Anyway, flash string and kissing sounds like an accident just waiting to happen, and a tale you probably don't want to be telling the nurse in A&E. "Well I lit some highly flammable chemicals on fire in front of her nose, right..."

In any case, I hope the day is magical (in the other sense) and that you have a lovely day. And congratulations

I agree with kolm, save the magic for non-special occasions and make the anniversary a treasured memory for all time by making her the focus of your attention.

you know, i have this terrible thought that you slip some ammonia into her glass, and you gargle with spirits of salt.. and then go into the kiss.....ok, you will both die shortly afterwards, but the smoke comming out of both your mouths as you do so, will be spectacular.

( It would look even better if you add a pair of those flashing teeth )

show her a card trick, preferably one of those ones where you deal the cards into 16 piles first.

lol that you think agecroft would know that.

I'm not sure what's worse, claiming the girl is less important or doing a naff card trick to her ;)

Speaking as a female-type person (who loves magic), DON'T DO MAGIC.

A romantic occasion should be a romantic occasion, when what's important is the two of you being together.

If you want to make the day special, think of something you both enjoy equally. This could be as simple as a countryside ramble and a picnic, or as fancy as getting dressed up and going out to dinner and a show. A day at the zoo, an afternoon on the river, whatever. Something a little out of the ordinary that you'll both enjoy and remember fondly.

I'm thinking a "lady and the tramp-esque" kind of spaghetti occasion, except replace one of the spaghetti pieces with some flash string. Light it and say "can you feel the heat between us". She'll love it.
