Hi All,

Got a stage gig in 4 weeks and would really like some ideas for some effects/routines I could do with some jumbo cards I've had sat in my bottom drawer for months! They were on sale at Hawkin's Bazaar and are actually not bad quality so I couldn't resist! A clear case of CUPS, maybe?

Anyway, I'm thinking of mentalism style effects where I could use members of the audience as that sort of thing best fits my (comedic) style! Also, any suggestions of resources where I could research some ideas would be greatly appreciated!

With the right treatment they could be converted to an ID.

There are some great routines in Larry Beckers Best of World of Super Mentalism book 2.

One of my favourites from there is 'PSI-STEBBINS.' It is a great routine which could be played for laughs i think and is easy to do.

BTW Mandrake - it is important to treat your cards rough so they know who's boss. [GROAN]

Marc Paul has a mind reading effect with 5 spectators and a jumbo deck of cards. It's very simple to do and leaves a lot of potential for you to put your own spin on it.

And if the act doesn't go down well you could always do an impromptu Play Your Cards Right!

Giznorm, We think alike! Already working on the Marc Paul effect as I became a bit of a fan of his work sometime ago!

As for being a bit rough with my cards, not my style! I'm more of a 'smooth' operator! Sorrreeeeeeee!

Any more ideas (and bad jokes!) greatly appreciated!

I actually bought a jumbo ID for a stage performance but the idea of making your own appeals to me. I find it a little difficult to handle in the jumbo size but itt still packs the same punch

Mark Waddington posted a link ages ago to a vid of his ID routine using large cards - I think it was the one which won a competition for him - and although the cards don't make an appearance until the very end (obviously!) it works all better because they're larger cards.

With a jumbo deck of cards there are loads of things you can do - One of Osterlinds DVD's (#2 I think) is devoted to BCS effects, many of which he will perform on stage with a jumbo deck.
