Postby DEvok » Apr 30th, '11, 13:13

Does anyone know where i can buy Australian expended coin gaff shells? 20c coins are fine , ones with the platypus. apparently its illegal to be made in australia. after i did some research and i did email one of our popular magic sites in Aus,I was told the same thing, i also emailed 2 american sites and one only had Aussie pennies, and other site Tod Lassen who ever that is, didnt even give me a email reply... he should least have a number to call!

Todd is a ''high end'' coin gaffer :) From what i understand it can take a long time to get a reply to an email. Apparently calling him is your best bet, but how you get his number I dont know. They are always going on about his work at the Cafe, so one of them will no doubt have it. If he will make what you want its going to be expensive.
It would probably be easier to use foreign coins as the shells are more widely available. Silver coins are very nice and have a distinctive ring to them which sounds good for things like coins across - and it would probably be alot cheaper to get a good expanded silver shell than it will to get a custom piece from Todd.
I suppose it just comes down to personal preferance :) Good luck with your search.

I'm sure Tango would make them for you if you sent them some coins.
