Palming for card to wallet

Postby Dovewars » May 14th, '11, 19:41

Hi,

I have learned to get the card into the palm, and have a wallet :)

Looking for any video tutorials on the effect that might give me some tips on misdirection, timing etc. Anyone know if such a video?

Regards

Peter

There is a nice routine incorporating a CTW on Steve Dela's 'work and play' DVD.

The whole routine is run through and then explained in full with all of the offbeats pointed out to you.

There is also a lot of material on there that is worth looking at.

Since you can already palm and have the wallet why dont you just watch some performance clips on you tube (good ones I mean). You'll get tips on the structure and misdirection, and perhaps get some inspiration.
Do you have Expert Card Technique ? There is a section at the back which deals with misdirection and gives some good examples. Once understood you can easily apply it to your routines.

Most of the time, there is no misdirection in getting the card to your wallet. You just talk about your wallet, just before bringing it out, establishing it has been in inside jacket pocket from the start. Rather than the typical misdirection, you bring all the attention and heat to the fact you have a wallet in your pocket.
Then you move your hand to bring out the wallet and voila! You load it as you are reaching for it.
I have never seen when a wallet is loaded with some misdirection and then fetched later in the act.

Most of the better routines I have seen do exactly this (including my own). It is _far_ better to load the card early on - preferably when the spectators are convinced the card is still in the deck - so that, when you go to the pocket, you can show an empty hand.

That's not to say that you cannot load the card as you remove the wallet, but most of the time the handling can be fumbly, and raise some awareness that _something_ is happening.

My preferred method is to half load the card on the first trip to the pocket, and then fully load it as I remove the wallet.
