Trying to find a trick.... ("Passing the Card???")

Postby the_fury_2000 » May 20th, '11, 07:54

Hi Guys,
First time poster and beginner "magician", so hello!!!

I recently saw an "easy" trick but wanted to know the name of it and where i can buy it/learn it etc

If i remember it correctly....

It involves asking someone to cut the deck a few times and keeping a pile of cards.
They are then asked to count the cards as they place them back on the table one by one.(say 12 cards)

That pile is then picked up by someone else.

The magician then lets someone pick a card at random (a 4 for example)

The magician then passes a pretend card around the table 4 times to the person now holding the pile.

That person then counts out the cards again and there are now 16 cards!!

I hope this makes sense and my explanation is ok but im sure you guys will know the trick by the description.

I think it has an obvious name like Pass the Cards or Passing the Cards etc.
any help appreciated!!

Sounds like the Cards Across from Royal road. There are many cards across effects available using a variety of methods.
There are a couple of impromptu versions in David Regals Constant Fooling, by Paul Wilson. Theres one (i think) in Expert Card Technique. There are also a few marketed versions by Sankey and Blaine. Phil Goldstien (Max Maven) also has a version out which uses four red and four blue cards.
Here is a clip of Paul Wilson performing the version in Royal Road
