I've been mixing up with a few ideas and searching through some of my old tricks and decks of cards and remembered an idea which was discussed between me and an old housemate which involved a really nice routine (I cant remember it all, but will throw some of the ideas out, see if it sounds familiar to anyone?)

As far as I can remember, it was some kind of ambitious card routine, with some pretty fancy shuffling etc in it (not all this "super cool XCM" - no offence, but I cant stand that - I mean farrow shuffles etc) and an ambitious card set of moved, jumping, bouncing around locations (pockets etc).
Then the routine finishes with the magician saying:
"Now I'm going to find the card a final time by cutting the deck" (obviously this doesn't get a very good reaction from the audience, as they have just seen lots of much more fancy footwork and magic) ... the magician realizes this and says something like "oh, ok ... well I literally mean CUT the cards" ... He then takes the top card and ACTUALLY cuts the deck in half (like a split deck) down to about half way to stop on the spectators card

As far as I'm aware, we didnt invent this (simple explenation is a deck switch for half of a "split" deck, but I'm sure that we sourced this from a magician or a product on the market)

Any ideas anyone?

Oh, I should probably say that if this WAS our idea, then its totally mine and Leon's (Don't know if he is on this forum) and we won all rights forever and ever and it'll be coming to a dvd near you

It sounds vaguely similar to Paul Harris' torn and restored deck*; if someone merged it with Sankey's In a Flash, the effect would be close to what you described.

*which, in turn, was inspired by Micro Macro

Ah right, I'm going to have to research these - if its the effect that me and Leon discussed, then I'll know it right away

If not, then I'll have yet MORE ideas to drive me mad about this trick - thanks for the input though sleightlycrazy

Apart from the ambitious part of the routine the last bit sounds like 'Pasteboard Massacre' by David Regal which you'll find on his 'Tricks!' DVD Volume one; it's also available as an individual effect with the special deck on his website.

The effect is original to David Regal but the DVD I bought a few years ago was released by L&L publishing, it's possible it could have been released before that by a different distributor, I don't really know.

looking back at things, i bought it off meir yedid at the international day in london in 88 , no dvd, just the cards and a booklet,, you had to learn things and read back then ..................

The DVD in question as well as featuring 'Pasteboard Massacre' also includes several other strong routines, I would recommend it.

If you order the individual effect it comes with the deck and printed/photographic instructions, if you prefer to learn by reading rather than watching and listening.

To be honest - I much prefer reading and practising myself the moves as taught by the creator.
However, after having both the bok and DVD versions of several tricks (Darwin Ortiz, RRTCM etc) I may get both

Both the DVD 'Tricks!' (volume one) which features 'Pasteboard Massacre' (and many other effects) and the ready made 'Pasteboard Massacre' deck and booklet are both by the inventor David Regal so you can't go wrong with either
