Ah, but it sounds to me like MagicBill is planning this to be a special occasion. After all, he is planning on having bread rolls! Very posh! I also get a feeling that this is the first time MagicBill will have cooked for his girlfriend? At least in the formal sense, as opposed to rustling up a slice of toast and a cup of tea.

My advice, and I will say no more than this, is just have a nice meal. Leave the exploding bunches of flowers, the choke danger of a playing card in the bread roll, and anything to do with pulling something out of a lemon (all you'll get is sore fingers), for a more appropriate time and place.

My experience is that very few women actually "get off" on magic. Which is a hard pill to swallow for all you guys who started doing magic in an attempt to get laid.

Magic is all about controlled deception for entertaining purposes.
are you really wanting to deceive that special lady ?

This is the reason why any attempts at magic performances fail to impress my wife. She knows when I am deceiving her. I cannot 'lie' to my wife, she knows me too well.

Perhaps you could build on the idea of 'not deceiving her' to present some special magic...

E.g.
I could try deceiving you by doing this...[something magical]
or this.... [Something magical]
but the truth is I don't want to deceive you, or trick you. The truth is .... [something romantic] ... real feelings... no illusions etc. etc.

Slip rohypnol in her drink, and you could do a great amnesia effect!

one of these bread rolls contains a prediction. [Patio force] then break open the roll and there is a condom...

... OK you did say 'within reason' - I'll get my coat now.

Hope your meal is successful.

Thing is, I avoided magic at the dinner, so I'm actually leaving with your girlfriend....

As Lady of Mystery rightly pointed out, if you want to impress the ladies brush up on your tarot and/or palm reading skills. Tis true, tis true. Faint heart (and ambitious card routine) never fair maiden won.

Preparation: Wear a jacket, and have two real roses stashed upside down (stems wedged into your belt from the bottom up) behind your back, one on left hip, one on right & both hidden under your jacket. Remove the thorns! Small piece of Flash paper (sparkly stuff is good) in right and left hand in classic finger palm, lit candle on table within easy reach of you (and not too close to her!).
- Touch flash paper into candle flame with right hand, then do the same with left hand, and at the same time as the left hand flame happens, your right hand reaches behind you and grabs first rose and brings it to the front (rose now upright) and then left hand does the same. Pop them in the new vase...

Or just buy a nice bunch of flowers and give them to her rather than terrifying her with exploding roses.

But where's the magic in that!? It would not be very memorable to do it that way. This way, every time that vase gets used she'll remember that evening, that you cooked, and gave her flowers... Also note I did say 'small' piece of flash paper. flash paper just fizzes with a nice sparkly flame nes pa? No 'explosion' or 'bang' at all! Ah well - each to his own...

Not all magic is bought from magic shops.
