Wasnt there a european version where a magician did really well? dont you think that someone in production is looking at the stats and working out how well the magic did and will push it next time if it does good

The thing is that ITV make TV shows PURELY to sell advertising, that is all they exists for (apart from some contractural remits). If they get more people watching a demographic and selling more adverts, you can be sure you will see more of it again.
Its fantastic to see the difference in show selections. Sadly though even today a lot of ITV people think they are making entertainment as they want to compete with the beeb, but the 4 and 5 people know its about advert sales, nothing more, nothing less.
