Hi everybody, please allow me to introduce myself. I used to be street performing magical clown who now feels the need to learn some new tricks.
I studied magic hard for many years, particularly coin magic and ropes. With coins, I developed skills many professionals would admire. Through continuous performance on the streets of London, I developed my own techniques, original slights and methods, which coupled with a mischievous sense of humour created a performance style, very much my own. I would bounce around Covent Garden and pick up various gigs and parties and had a lot of fun doing it.
I was also heavily involved in the London underground party scene and tailored and adapted my magic to work in dark UV lighted spaces with a concussive musical beat that precluded any attempt with dialogue and patter.
But life changes. A move out of London into a rural area deprived me of an audience. Then a injury has left me with a permanently damaged hand that will never be able to do the clever and intricate sleights, I had based much of my magic on. While I am well aware of some very capable one handed magicians and I do still have some capacity to work coins, my interests have also changed.
I had tinkered around with mentalism a decade ago and really enjoyed the kind of reactions I was provoking. But as my clown persona developed and enveloped my practice, mentalism had to take a back seat. (Being a clown with a red nose and a squirty flower, does absolutely nothing to create or help sell the illusion of being in possession of powerful and unexplainable mentalist powers). I have no plans as yet, to grow a goatee beard and waltz around in velveteen frock coats but for now, am content to acquire new skills, develop my old ones and see where things go from here.
The most recent magic trick I purchased was Sudoku- The Ultimate Mental Workout by Justin Monehen. I have not as yet performed it and am not in a position, as yet to review it. But have been working hard on it. I am consigning the entire solution to memory and working on an idea of using the puzzle to reveal a large, previously selected number. I am very excited with the prospect of performing it and the idea of me developing a whole new area of expertise. I will share with you my thoughts and experiences as they too, develop.
I am a male, 45 years old live in North Yorkshire and mechanic things for a living.
