Websense rant

Postby aporia » Jun 7th, '11, 11:31

Websense have gone and added http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/ to their list of dodgy websites.

No more buying cards while at work.

Honestly, I despair.

Oh well....look on the bright side....
Presumably your salary will go up now, because your employer will no longer be docking the money they did because you decided to use their time and resources for your hobby..... ;)

They probably equate it to a gambling or Poker Playing site - typical overkill based on scant facts. Somewhere on the Interwebby thing is a great poem indicating the death of common sense.....

Years ago, I had the great pleasure of looking at porn sites all day to test the web proxy at River Island's head office on Hanger Lane. Now, that's a weird assignment. Just getting out of the tube station was a problem, as anyone who's been to the Hanger Lane gyratory system will attest!

I also has the pleasurable experience of being on the Pornsweeper proxy training course. Hacking wasn't all about guessing passwords back in the day. No, siree!

Triggered the "Drug and Alcohol Abuse" klaxons at work while trying to locate a particular French vineyard. DP stormtroopers burst in yelling "23-19! We got a 23-19!"
There is a strand of logic I suppose...

Ultra Surf

Postby WarpedMagic » Jun 7th, '11, 18:01

http://www.ultrareach.com/

If you are able to run exe files i use Ultra Sure. Its a proxy bypass and allows you to get on to any site. Some places i have been i have to manually put the proxy settings in to Ultra Surf and it works every time for me.

Its also good to use from home because when its traced it reports as Ultra Surfs servers and not your home IP if ever you need to !

If you want to try it you will soon be purchasing cards again at work :-)

Back when I was at school google got banned, but while doing D&T the alternative search engine brought up some interesting results for toys, rather adult toys.

We seem to have one the worst IT departments ever. They just block random sites, eat nibbles and stare at me suspiciously. :(

In d+t I did a google image search for crank toys ( I did tell the teacher that it was a bad idea...). I regret it.
