Pen through banknote...

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

Jim.I technique is to stab it and then pull it out sideways covering the whole ripping with my hand as I fold it over in two.As I hand it to them to unfold I ditch the gimmick.

I don't think it's my technique in question here.In fact I feel my own handling is the best. The penetration is a bit too perfect if shown for too long in my opinion

I wasnt meaning that you had bad technique, sorry if thats the way it came across :)
I know what you mean that it can look too perfect, which is why I mentioned the rip gimmick. For some reason this isnt as popular as id have thought. Maybe its because the notes in this country are different colours so it would mean having to borrow a specific note, rather than just any note. It can really enhance the illusion of the pen being through the bill in close-up.
I use two different handlings - in one I use Doug Edwards penetration that comes in the instructions, and use the visual pull out (pulling the pen straight out the note). The other is a visual penetration with the full face of the note towards the spectators (it isnt folded) - the pen is pushed through from the back of the note and visually pops out through the front (like a reverse of the visual pull-out), the pull out I use for this isnt as visual and is reminiscent of something David Copperfield would do :)

I'm so p***ed that your dissing my technique.I'm sick of people being so cynical on these forums :D;)

But seriously I've always thought the pull out method was best (IB thread). It looks most natural although my gimmick would fall off if I tried that therfore I stick to my own method.

Would you not agree on a whole that if someone knows the effect then they know all them regardless of impecible handling etc?

Without wanting to get too buried in method on a public forum, I took a look at Misled and wondered really whether the gimmick or the method was reliant on it being a $100 note?

After all, carrying around a hundred dollar bill would be considered highly suspicious behaviour in the UK...

The gimmick is note independent - you can use it on any piece of paper currency.

The best one is a cheapo black plastic one i bought in Thailand for a pound and is exminable 100%. Boy have i made use of this over the years
I think u may be able to get in online here now or maybe i should fill my case up

The higher quality metal version kept piercing the note. i bought it from D Ports and i threw it back at them.
