I'm blatantly stealing a friend's idea of throwing open my 50th birthday to various forums I belong to. Assuming that anyone might be willing to come along, that is.

Since I count you as friends, I wouldn't dream of making you set foot in Bolton. Instead, I was thinking of someplace in Manchester, probably the KRO Bar in Piccadilly Gardens as it's central and very easy to find, even if you don't know the area. It's a nice place and serves tasty food.

My birthday is July 1, which is a Friday, but I'm not fixated on celebrating on that particular day. If Saturday is better for people, that's OK with me. Or Thursday, or Sunday, or whatever.

The big question at the moment is whether anyone would be likely to turn up. So... would anyone be likely to turn up?

It's far enough ahead for me to be able to make it, and it's the weekend of my Holiday. I'm going to Bletchley Park on the Sunday, so Saturday would be great!

I might be able to make it, I won't know until nearer the time. So put me down as a yes but don't rely on me!

Well, that makes two likely and one possible, so I suppose that's enough to call it on! We'll have to work out times and things, maybe a bit nearer the day.

Whee! I haven't done anything to celebrate a birthday since I was 12.

I'll have a bit of that Robbie, thanks very much. IIRC there's not much activity down for June amongst the Manchester get-togetherererers so perhaps a few more of us should be up for this and KRO is nice and central

It might be better to make it the Saturday, July 2. We could meet at KRO for lunch and then either stay put or consider any suggestions about places to go and things to do.

I'll get to KRO between 11 and 11:30 (trains permitting) and will try to hang around somewhere in plain sight.

For those who don't know, KRO is an unmissably large orange building in Piccadilly Gardens, about half a mile straight down the road from Manchester Piccadilly Station.
