Hello

Postby oxdeej » Jun 28th, '11, 20:45

Hi,

I'm Rob from Oxfordshire thought I'd say hello.

Have been doing mainly card tricks for about 3 months now, at 34 I thought it maybe a little too late to learn but everyone seems to love the tricks I do. I have amazed myself on how dedicated I have become.

I would be interested in people's opinons of online suppliers of books and merchandise, which ones to use and which ones to avoid. I would like to have a look at a coin bite but ,ost of the ones I have seen have been US coins and I would like an English one.

Hi Rob, welcome to TM :)
For purchasing your stuff Magicbox and Alakazam are pretty good and reliable. There are many retailers to choose from and others will no doubt mention a few of the other good ones. The Bitten Coin is available (in a choice of UK currency) from most dealers, including the shops I mentioned.

Hello and welcome! Check the advertisers at the bottom of each page, they're all reliable and well established purveyors of assorted miracles - well worth comparing prices etc.

hello and welcome,

Magicbox is my choice of retailers, but as mandrake said, depending on what you are after there are tonnes of links at the bottom which can meet any of your needs :D

Coin gimmicks I use an ebay supplier called eworths, have been using the same ebay user for YEARS and they have never dissapointed.

Is it just coin stuff you do - or are you a card, close up, stage, hypnotist kind of magician too?

Dan

Thanks very much guys, I hadn't even noticed the links at the bottom of the page, I'm sure it's years of ignoring ad's on sites for my oversite.

I have only concentrated on card magic so far, purchased the royal road book and a few decks of riderbacks. Just liked the idea of trying something different, I tend to like mainly street magic type tricks not too keen on the big prop things but I may change my mind as I discover more.

Oh dear! That's not good news for the advertisers! Anyway having found them you now have a great choice of dealers and if you fancy a foray over to the 'dark side' drop in at Black Artefacts.

Welcome to the community and good luck.

You should have a look at Mark Wilsons Complete Course in Magic if you are thinking of branching out. You'll find plenty in there you can use on the streets and it will introduce you to other effects and areas that you may not have thought about.
