Going to my first social meeting tonight

Postby kry10 » Jul 12th, '11, 15:53

Hi everyone.

Just a little info on my latest activities.

I will be going to the Manchester Circle Of Magicians tonight, I am slightly nervous as I have never been to anything of this magnitude.
I shall let you all know how I got on when I get home.

Hope you had a ball, Kry10. I haven't attended for a good while, which is very naughty of me

Membership is about £15 for the year (fees are due every january)

The normal agenda is for the first half hour a member will stand up and demo a trick (usually explaining it), after a quick two minute intro by the president the rest of the evening is a talk by usually a visiting lecturer

The type of lecture completely depends on the person, some will use it to explain tricks, some give some good advice, not all will explain the methods. Expect a sales pitch at the end selling lecture notes and DVDs

There's a bar, and a break half way through the night. Everyone's very friendly, so you won't be nervous for long

I did have a good time, very friendly people and we had two lectures, one was a mini lecture about Palmistry which was pretty intriguing and had everyone looking at their hands, lol.
The second was a change to the expected Doc Hifford, he was replaced by Mark Elsdon who was absolutely fantastic and gave me some very good ideas and thoughts.
His finishing Rubik's Cube solving was incredible.
I have joined up and will be going again to the next meeting.
