I usually do close up at weddings (reception and table-hopping) and will normally do Anniversary Waltz at the top table for the bride and groom.

I have a booking in August in which they want close up at the reception (not tables) and for me to do a Parlour style effect for the Bride and Groom after the speeches - which in this case is before the meal.

Any suggestions? I am considering Jay Scott Berry's 'Destiny or Free Will' and hope it will work for an audience of about 10 tables as well as the happy couple.

Ideas welcome....

How about a cut and restored turban with the bride and groom holding onto opposite ends of the cloth? I think a slightly modified version of the second phase of Penn and Teller's "Polyester" routine would work well. The patter can be about the various things that can be frustrating in a relationship-- each with a new slice of the cut turban-- and how regardless of the frustration, the connection of marriage remains.

you could patter about how two ( ends) met... how two, linked become one.. .. I forget the exact sequence of events, but You get the drift.

this could possibly routine with the turban.

thought if you can lay your hands on one of those double wrist choppers, thats teh act sorted right there.

I'm Best Man for a wedding later this year, and planning on doing Marc Paul's "Summing Up" as a form of ice breaker - using random numbers hidden in the floral arrangements at each table. Still deciding if the reveal is to be the wedding day, or the day they were engaged.

I did this last Christmas with that date as the final total and an extra line had to be added to deal with 6 digits. There's a big 'risk' that a memorable date will be spotted early but perhaps a wedding date might not be as obvious as Christmas Day! It's a great routine, best of luck, hope it all goes well.

I really love this sort of routine and have got a couple that I use quite often. Anything that can demonstrate a connection between the couple is great, have them both pick a card from separate deck and the cards match, p k touches is also good. Another that I use is my Jack Sparrow's compass routine where by a compass points at one's heart's true desire, it's just a dressed up presentation of the compass trick from Fulves Self Working Mental Magic.
