Michael Ammar's Card On ceiling

Postby Stephen Ward » Apr 25th, '05, 15:01

The Effect

A selected card is shuffled into the pack, the pack is tossed to the ceiling and the selected card sticks there.

Cost

£8.95 to £14.95 from all dealers (i Think!)

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

3 - 4

Review

I actually only got this as it was in a sale at a very cheap price. Although i knew how to do it i was curious to see Michael's product. You get a tub of his own brand wax and a booklet. The booklet has two main handlings for the trick and a coin version. Instructions are clear and well written.

Main Drawbacks (IMHO)

1. You probably already know how to do this classic.
2. You can get good wax for under £4.00 or even less.

The product is packaged well and i am sure many people will enjoy it but i wonder what the pro's will make of it. If you want to do the trick then this you could buy this product or it must be in a book somewhere.

Overall

Hard to rate, i will give it a 6 but i feel there are cheaper ways of doing this (IMHO).

I agree it is undoubtedly a great trick - and saved for the right occasion it really does kill*.

However, rather than buy it as a stand alone effect I would suggest getting the relevant "Easy To Master Card Miracle" (ETMCM) dvd that it is on. I can't remember which one off hand, but if you do a search you will find it.

*and I don't mean when the rest of the pack falls on someomes head

wax on, wax off

Can anyone recommend a good wax (or substitute) for the card on the ceiling effect. I want to start doing it after seeing it in the Michael Ammar lecture from the Magic Castle. He says that standard magicican's wax is to hard and I am certainly finding that with the wax I have (which I use to anchor my ITR).

I have the handling and everything is going fine (in practice) but I can't get the card to stick!

... or buy Doc Easons Bar Magic volumes, which also have this trick, - where Ammar is a "guest" in the explanation part. Some really great videos!
