I'm Ian and I live in Scotland. I've always liked watching magic and when I was younger used to love the out-of-the-box tricks that were typically sold under Paul Daniels' name.

My 10-year-old has also liked magic for years but has recently started showing a real interest in it, specifically card magic, which has rekindled my own interest. We bought some decks of cards (some normal and some trick decks which I showed him how to use) and he started playing with them and learning - mostly from YouTube. When he showed me the this/that/other trick and ably demonstrated the sleights involved I encouraged him to put in the effort to learn properly and to structure his learning. To that end we have both begun our journey down the Royal Road together...
