Thank you! That was really kind of you! I try my best to help, even though i no longer perform 'regular' magic (maybe sometimes!) i still keep my finger on the pulse.

Remember .... Leave the chicken suit in the fancy dress shop!

I'm halfway through this and I'm finding it a really irritating read, but only because my e-reader has a tough time with PDFs! Have you considered alternate formats, such as epub?

I guess I might just have to buy a paper copy...

I like the chicken suit metaphor, but the idea of being a fake chicken amongst real chickens isn't perfectly analogous to being a magician faking the style of another for the average audience, because they aren't real chickens.

I think it's more akin to wearing a chicken suit to a farmers market and disappointing everyone when you fail to lay an egg.

This kind of text is really useful because of the huge number of books on the subject of magic which are just effect and method resources. There ought to be more books about the hazardous art of finding an audience to show it all to.

finished reading this text now....have to say definately a good read. Lots of really good points bought up for the reader to consider and lots of good tips!!!!

you write in a style that is easy to follow and you don't drag things out to make up the chapters......what you write is direct and to the point and it raelly did make for an interesting read!!

thanks again stephen :)

For all those who have enjoyed this freebie, why not check out Stephen's other works - not free but so reasonably priced they're almost like stealing - and are extremely useful for all types of magic.

(No, I'm not on commission!)

You see? i have the photos of Mandrake, the donkey and the kebab! So he does my bidding

On a serious note i will be honest and say i have a much longer book on this subject planned and i thought this would be a good promo for it. It is going to take a long while to get ready and could even be near Xmas as i have a busy schedule.

I have the same problem with my eReader. Fortunately I was able to open the PDF on the work computer and print it out there. They even had a spare binder folder perfect for keeping it in!

Does anyone know if the Kindle is better with PDF's? Not to thread hi-jack, just curious.

What i will do is take the original file and try the epub. Give me a couple of days as i have a bit of a chest cold at the moment and feel a little unwell! I will try to get it up by Thursday. Now you know the file is safe i may put the new one on mediafire as it is quick to download from.

When i finish writing the whole book i intend to have this one professionally converted to kindle format as well as PDF and paperback book.

Try 'calibre' to convert .pdf to a .epub format, it usually works a treat.

I can echo 'Calibre' as a great program for converting different formats to suit e-readers of many kinds. Also, it's free  !

I've tried Calibre conversion on this file. It worked fine on the text but the diagrams disappeared. I've PMd Stephen on what I think the problem is.
