Four Aces

Postby AA 14 » Jul 29th, '11, 13:59

As a newbie on here i was wondering what are other members favourite four aces trick? [or any 4 cards]
I am currently learning card magic and i know there are many card tricks, but i love how people can be fooled by just four cards. Any thoughts guys?
Cheers

Chris Kenner's In Ten City. Love it, some really nice moves in there and visually baffling - and therefore appealing - for a spectator.

I use a few four ace effects, not all at once though. They are all classic pieces.

Apex Aces (with either one or three selections)
Sleeve Aces
Dr Daleys
Twisting the Aces
Ace Assembly

Regarding Apex Aces which i mentioned above. While the standard version and the three selections versions are both in print i dont think the single selection approach is. If anyone (who already knows the original) is interested in this let me know via PM.

I really like Eddie Burke's 'Boot Hill' (and it's variations) It's basically a twisting the aces routine (the aces turn face up, one at a time) but without the Elmsley counts. At the end of the routine all the backs of the cards change to four different designs.

Another good variation is where at the finish the back and front of the cards turn to mirrors.

Well, Roy Walton's C******* C**** used less at one point! Blanked it out so as not to reveal the method. I'm a good boy.

Karl Fulves was the originator i think of the 4 card Ace Brainwave which is basically as follows and my favourite using just 4 ACES ONLY ( is brainwave the correct word , maybe its not but u get the jist. I have the Chronicles of KF where i first see this)

Spec names an ACE

You pull 4 ACES from a black envelope

The chosen ACE is the only face up , say ACe of hearts
The ACE of hearts is shown to be the only red ACE the others are all black
The Ace of hearts has Red back , the others have blue backs

This can be morphed into many more interesting arrangements as well some of which can be used with or without the Elmsley count
