Bad Border on Tallys

Postby ace of kev » Jul 30th, '11, 14:50

So I was practicing some bottom dealing/pinky counting, and seeing as my technique currently has a lot to be desired I caused the bottom card, the 6 of spades, to obtain a c***p.

Then I noticed it had been cut very poorly. The white border is unequal all the way around. Is it worth sending them back? (And by worth, I mean will I get anything other than another deck ;) I'm a poor student ya know :D)

It's the one on the left: http://i55.tinypic.com/2ptqvis.jpg

Thanks,

Buy a hundred deck of Tally's of Bicycle cards and you'll find at least 20% have awful borders and more than half aren't perfect.

I thought you could only send them back if the fault ruined normal play*

*fair play, that is.

I'm sure if you emailed them that you lost a lot of money because a mate knew the six from the back then they may fix you up with something.Would'nt really be worth the hassle IMO

Earlier this year I had a deck of Piatniks from cards4magic.co.uk which were less than perfect (about 4 cards of the deck). I emailed them and the very next day I had a replacement deck through my letter box.

It really can't hurt to perhaps try the retailer you got them from first? Probably get a quicker solution.

If you're using the cards purely for conjuring purposes, is it really a problem? If you use them to play card games with, then the narrow border would be an issue. But for the conjuror, surely it doesn't matter a great deal? If anything it's an advantage, as you could use it as a key card or something. I'm sure spectators wouldn't notice the discrepancy. Having said that, I can understand if the issue is that you paid for something that was not up to standard.

I've sent the Ace back to the USPCC before, and they sent me a new deck, free shipping, FOC etc.

I wouldn't make a habit out of it as people are rightly pointing out, few decks are perfect, but it doesn't hurt to both see if it works, and occasionally letting the USPCC know that you're mad as hell and you're not going to take it any more.
