RRTCM is an old book written in an old style from the days when it was expected that readers would be able work at the text to discover the content and meaning rather than it being phrased in words of one syllable like a lot of more recent stuff! It doesn't contain everything; the Elmsley Count is a valued process but was thus named well after RRTCM was written so you won’t find that in there.

Best suggestion I can make is to take a deep breath, get a deck of cards at the ready and do like it says in the book, work through it a stage at a time and don’t go soaring ahead until you’re comfortable with each page and section. It doesn't hurt to browse a few other card books as well, just to get alternative thoughts and views.

Great advice mandrake, ill take everything into account. expert card technique seems to have a good chapter on misdirection. a lot of people on TM rate ECT highly also. dont want to rush anything though. ill try my best to master whats in RRTCM first and go from there :D

thanks again

Expert Card Technique is indeed an exellent book and is (in my opinion) a natural follow on from Royal Road. The chapter on misdirection and presentation that you mention is worth more than the price of the book !
