Hello,
My nephew and I are new to this forum. He is technically the magician and I'm the "beautiful" assistant. ;) He's only 8, but he's been obsessed since he was 4 with magic and illusion. Right now he is getting into mentalism. We are basically a double act because I need to help him with everything when it comes to technique. He is quickly surpassing my minimal magic knowledge, so I need to start studying up. Can anyone suggest any reading for mentalism for me? He will read it too, but I need to help when he gets stuck. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to being allowed into the magician community one day.
Thanks in advance,
Maisiedays

There are loads of great books around. For me, Corinda's 13 Steps was a great intro. I am sure others will recommend lots of other good options.

Give the Search Function a whirl, there are dozens of threads full of useful info on mentalism.

Welcome Aunt Maisie. ( I do apologise in advance if other people start calling you that now)

As mentioned, I will second the advice for Corinda's 13 steps to mentalism. Though it might seem a little heavy for an 8 year old you can go through and pick and choose what pieces you can help him work on.

Other than that, might I suggest a Karl Fulves book (this man is quite famous in the magical world for writing books full of effects that work on their own, without any real work involved on the part of the performer)
The one I had in mind was his "Self working mental magic" which helpfully enough you can read a review of right here on talk magic http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic8775.php

Time Magazines Person Of The Year 2006.

Karl Fulves book is very good and packed full of lots of nice, easy to do effects. Good luck both of you :D
