IVE WORKED OUT HOW TOO DO THE FULL INDIAN ROPE TRICK!

Postby magicc » Aug 3rd, '11, 00:47

yes thats right a rope levitates vertical in an open space no stage or back drops a boy climbs up and vanishes.
magician climbs ub with machette and vanishes
di membered boy drops down too ground and magician climbs down
open a woven straw basket and boy is inside fine.
if im correct the full trick as never been done in full in open air no stage or back drop.
if someone could do it id br happy too pm the idea it would be costly

Just curious, but if it is "your method" and you are happy to share, why not just disclose it on the forum. I'd be interested to hear how the planned "vanish" would be taking place.

See cos the rest I can work out how to do. Just have a pit dug out, fork lift truck in pit, pipe that looks like a rope is pushed up by said truck. One half of a set of twins climbs up, magician climbs up, dismembers said twin, returns, other twin comes out of basket.

I think the dismembered boy is actually made of Lego. This makes it easy to reassemble him.

paul daniels performed this in the middle of a field, with a live audience, and a tiger.
I too have worked out how to do it, but its venue specific, ( in the middle of a football pitch)and can only be done at a particular time of year.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

What is "di membered boy"?

And who are you? How old are you? Where is your introduction to the forum?

For some reason I'm getting flashes of a certain Mr. Christopher, a historian of sorts, that published a viable if not "the" method many decades ago in the Illustrated History of Magic. . . I could be wrong.

I did do a similar bit (free of the bloody monkey body parts) at a noted Ohio theme park in the latter 70s but it was done once a day for a specific reason and could only be done at a particular point along the main avenue where folks entered the park (I'd love to know the Daniel method though, sounds quite awesome).

Sorry, but I'm inclined to doubt the ability of someone that seems to be little more than an eager new comer, having the resource & knowledge base needed for making such a breakthrough. . . especially the initial vanish of the kid (the mage did not vanish by the way, he merely climbed the rope and vivisected the child then came down, opened the basket, dumped in all the pieces and finally brought the lad back. . . this had to be the routine in that it is part of the method)

I vouch for Arkesus and Mr. Browning. So if you have a method and want to develope it further I'd share with either of them. Me, I wouldn't share with, I've never been a fan of grand illusions. Although I do like to try my hand at building them.
