Raven Noise Problem

Postby morrowsean » May 29th, '11, 12:49

Hi,

Can anyone suggest a way to stop the clinking sound i get when using the Raven? The Vanishes are great but the noise is a big giveaway.

Thanks!

Talk louder? Lessen the clinking noise, practice more.

Or you can save time and learn a retention vanish and Ramesy subtlty and get rid of the raven. I have nothing against gimmicks, in this particular case I found the sleights easier than the Raven, and I think most would agree with me as there seems to be many Raven's sitting unused in dresser drawers.

your using the reel version.. you should of got the standard.
mind you, as suggested above, Bobo, would of been a better investment. :)

Its definately the original version, the Pull and Vanish is fine, but the Sxxll connecting with the Mxxxect, is making a really loud clinking sound.
I am currently studying coin magic, i jst fancied adding this to my repetoire. I have since found out that the raven is hard to get into, so maybe ill jst start my routine with a coin change then follow with a few Vanishes, False transfers etc.
Ive been studying Bobo and David Roth Easy to Master Coin Miracles DvD. I recently bought Sick by Ponta the Smith off my friend, but it is incredibly difficult and way out of my league, ill go bk to it in a few years haha!

Cheers!
Sean

I think most people have found the Raven to be very impractical for performing and there are plenty of sleights out there which will serve you much better than the Raven.

I am guessing you are using a normal coin? If you use a shimmed coin it will talk less.

I agree with the posts that say learn some vanishes etc, however these take time an I'm assuming you want to fool people TODAY!! :)

The extra layer already advised by Tomsk will help.

Where are you vanishing it from when doing it? From the back of a spectators hand or your own hands?

If it's in your own hands then one suggestion is get them closer together on the pass, when i do the key bend from the X2 model i brush my hands together, this can be done very quick after a bit of practice?

After a while using it you get a feel for it and know how high/low to have it.

Hope this helps,
Sam.
