Where do all the photons go?

If no light is getting out of my room when the light bulb is on, why isn't it getting brighter?

I knew you'd come along and give a real answer and spoil my fun!
Give me the elevator pitch for black body radiation (sounds like made up tosh to me!)

It's all to do with Maxwells equations, I think. Heat an object and it should get infinitely warm but doesn't. Black bodies absorb energy and give it out again as heat.

Your room isn't a good a black body because it reflects much of the light. It's also connected to the rest of the universe, so the heat won't stay in the walls and objects for long. Remember the old plastic dustbin that used to get warm when we had proper hot summers? It's a better example of a black body doing its groovy thing.

But the new technology called LED gives out a much reduced light or lumens i think is the correct word

The old Incandescent bulbs are much better on the eye as well

The new energy lamps and LED have been blamed for sleep problems due to the peaks and troughs of the lightwave. ( Also some cancers are being blamed on the new buls as they effect hormone production it seems)

Blue light is not good a night ... beware.

Good grief
