Bicycle masters

Postby Tjex1 » Aug 10th, '11, 17:48

Hi

I was wondering if using bicycle masters would be a good idea. I can practice solidly whilst watching TV/doing nothing for up to 4 hours a day and get through cards like water. I am on my 3rd deck of bikes in 5 weeks and am about to move onto my 4th (whilst I am practising I cycle through several decks). I also use Royale cards as they have a nice finish and are relatively cheap (although the smaller bridge size). Would buying masters benefit me or should I buy regulars by the bucket load?

Thanks,
Tjex

Masters are basically Tally-Ho's with a Bicycle design. As such, they should be the ideal card...for me anyway. Sadly, they're more pricey than either Tally's or Bikes.

Only one way to find out if you should use them; buy a pack and see how you get on with them.

Instead of making an entirely new thread, I was wondering whether these or tally ho vipers would be better to buy?

I would just say regular tally-hos. They're cheaper then all of the above (besides bicycles, but only barely), and not onle feel better, have better quality, but they look better too. I think at least. Some nice red fan backs.

Don't go wasting your money on flashy ellusionist decks.

Vipers are black cards. Black cards always look beaten up before their time because you start to knock the black card away through use and it reveals white card underneath and it looks bad.

It is kind of Tjex1's money to waste. There are differences between the quality of some of these 'novelty decks' and the quality of your standard, off-the-line cards. Whether or not you deem it necessary to spend a bit extra on higher quality cards is up to you. It depends on your character, your effects, and your bank balance.

I wouldn't think any more or any less of someone using a Ghost deck for instance. In fact I find the quality of the Ghost decks I've owned to be most agreeable. I don't use them in performance because the audience can get confused when the red cards aren't red, but for practice purposes they're splendid. They last ages. Definitely worth the extra few quid to me.

Masters aren't that expensive if you can an afford the upfront investment in a dozen packs bought directly from ellusionist.

They do last much longer than normal Bikes.

Can't comment on Tally-ho - but Masters Faro perfectly right out of the box

Masters aren't normal USPCC cards. If you put a deck of Masters next to a regular deck of BIes or Tally's then you'll notice that the Masters are thicker. If you use a card guard then you'll notice this as the Masters box is too thick to slide into the guard.

4 decks in five weeks isn't a lot. Try getting through six or more decks a week if you're working. You'll then realise that buying a brick of standard decks for £15 is definately the way to go.

Even on a discount for buying a brick you'll not get Masters for less than £4 a deck.

BTW - virtually all USPCC produced cards will Faro out of the box.
