Hi

I'm looking for a means of vanishing an empty bottle (approximately beer bottle size). I use a bottle in a couple of close up routines (card under/in bottle, coin in bottle) and feel for completeness of the routines that the bottle should be vanished.

I've tried just ditching it in my pocket under misdirection but it's slightly too big for the pocket and I've tried toppiting (sp) it, but I'm not having too much joy with that due to the shape and size.

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

Actually a topit is your best bet and it works great. I know a guy who vanishes a full size bottle of Dom using a standard topit. Practice is key.

One of the best DVD's for value and content is Pat Page's Topit Techniques and it also includes the three shell game. Quite how and why they paired those two together I don't know.

also get a set of the bottle thru table gimmicks, because it will make it possible to vanish the bottle, before it goes.

I've done this using the old napkin over the bottle, bottle through table method but by dropping the bottle into my open bag. It worked a charm.

You can buy special Beer Bottles that scrunch down to a very small size. I see these in America and maybe they have them here.. the new ones are very thin and look good

Put it in a paper bag , scrunch... and its gone. Thats the theory anyway

I dont think the weller style bottle is quite what Mac's looking for.

Since he's using the bottle in a couple of other effects in his set, it has to be real, probably borrowed.

That's right Dale, borrowed whenever possible.

I was just thinking, I have a vague recollection of seeing a pull that could be used to vanish various items including miniature bottles and attached to the mouth of the bottle, does anyone know if anything is available for larger bottles or even if this type of pull exists?

I'm going to work on the topit but want to keep my options open.

Na. I wouldnt risk a pull.
If your going down that route, wear really big jackets and sleeve the bottle.

( or wear a black jacket, and stick some black felt to the bottom of the bottle. Then you can just shove the thing under your arm pit.)

or.. ( and ive just remembered ive done this years, and years ago) if your working tables, just prime the staff that if they are walking past as you have a beer bottle behind your back, take it away.

Stick with the topit it is then.

I'll pick up the Pat Page dvd when funds allow.

Dale! You know you are a genius right? I never would have even thought of that. Bottle through table gimmick plus topit to vanish a bottle! Could an effect be anymore beautiful in sheer method/effect combo?

I doubt it. think if their eyes as the bottle slooowly melts away under a napkin.... right under their very noses...
