For me it's Nirvana or The Subways. I listen to the whole albums as they rock to good to skip any tracks!

I may have been born yesterday but I stayed up all night.

Again, it depends on what I'm listening to.

Sinatra or any swing/jazz/blues would be the whole abum

Any pop or dance music then it's usually just individual tracks

Any rock music is usually on my Ipod and is n shuffle (unless it's the Beatles then it would be just silly to skip anything)

For me, it depends who the artist is but 99% of the time I'm an album person. If it's pop then chances are the singles will stick out like the proverbial dog parts but for most, the album is the beast. Like a film. You don't skip to your preferred scenes.

As for top artist, it's a tie between Todd Rundgren and Prince.

Maybe I´m old fashioned but I love Dire Straits, all of their songs.Check them out.I also like Tenacious D´s "hilarius rock style".It´s how comedy and great music sound together.

I've listened to at least 5 Placebo albums in full while driving this weekend

Excellent choice.

I agree with some of the others. Some albums are so much better as a complete work, however with some stuff there are a few tracks which are good with the rest of the album full of rubbish.

I listen to an eclectic mix, in the car at the moment I have Placebo - Once More With Feeling, My Chemical Romance - Danger Days: True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, Anour Brahem - Le Pas Du Chat Noir as well as numerous "self compilations".

As a note, Once More With Feeling is a best of album so am more inclined to skip tracks to my favourite, however many of the songs have been re-produced to give the album more of a rounded feel, rather than a mish mash of tracks. I try and achieve the same with my own compilations.

Personally, if I like a band or artist a lot, that means they have produced at least one album with zero filler tracks... so the answer to your question is for artists I like a lot it's generally whole albums. For example the very thought of listening to a compilation of Pink Floyd tracks would make me puke.
As for bands I like almost as much, just the good songs tyvm. Plenty of bands I like were never quite capable of putting out one consistently good long-player.
No point listening to an entire album if it's full of duff tracks.

I listen to music, but it's not an important part of my life.

I stopped paying attention to new stuff at about the time I left school (1979). It's only in the past ten years or so that I've started listening to anything made after about 1980. Almost all of my music collection dates from the 1970s and '80s.

If I had to pick one single artist/band, I guess it would have to be REM. My total music collection (according to the computer) is about 550 songs, and 64 of these are by them. More tellingly, when I'm picking and choosing songs to put on my small MP3 player, the final selection usually turns out to be about 50% REM.

A very recent discovery was the City Waites, who sing songs from the 17th and 18th centuries. I'd have to put them right up there with REM, and I have about the same number of their songs.

Others that feature prominently in my collection are Blondie and ELO. I would like to have a lot of the Eagles and Supertramp, but haven't had the opportunity to get hold of their CDs. I've got a largeish set of Chicago CDs, but mislaid them a few years ago and haven't found them yet.

I've got plenty more stuff on vinyl that I haven't heard since 1987 (the last time I had access to a record player), including more Blondie and quite a lot of Weird Al Yankovic.
