Hi! Ive already made one post and had very nice replies so have been made to feel very welcome!
Im a 20 year old amateur card magician and am here to gain some advice from others! Like most, I guess, I started an interest when I was very young - but it got put to one side as I got older. then about 4 months ago I decided to get involved properly!
Um, Im from Cornwall. Studying for a Music degree at King's College London. Love Italian food. Got one wonky toe-nail.
Hope thats enough details to introduce myself!

Sure I'll speak to some of you soon! thanks again for the friendly welcome!

Thanks! Yes I am a pianist, and have been playing for about 11 years now. If only I'd kept up card magic for as long!

Very nice. I have been playing guitar for about a year and a half now. So, what kind of magic are you into?

Card magic mainly. Its strange though - because for years I hated card magic the most and found it left me cold. But now I've completely fallen in love with it, especially knowing how elegant and sometimes complex the techniques are! Currently working on The Pass! Which is a wonderful move! What is your field of expertise!?

I'm more into the Vanishing side of magic, I think its beautiful to have an object there for one moment, and the next moment it is gone. Hey, we could learn off of eachother

Well, the two areas certainly overlap! So yeah, I'm more than happy to discuss it with you. If you want to PM me that would be cool!

Welcome to TM Mark and i hope you carry on with your cards, but think what left you feeling cold when someone performed a card trick to you? this is what you need to find out and use this knowledge to your advantage to make your magic better.

Hey, thanks so much for the warm welcome! You're absolutely right - and to be honest it had never occured to me to think about what it was that made card magic so unappealing. Now I'm actually thinking about it, my approach to card magic will be different. I think my main problem with it, and looking at a lot of card effects (especially in Royal Road), is that they dont seem so much magical effects, as more mathmatical puzzles to be solved. Its time I think to work more on the presentation rather than the technical handling!
Thanks for the advice! Mark
