Brema Nut

Postby Mark Wynn » Aug 20th, '11, 16:51

Does anyone currently use, or have used, a Brema Nut routine? Either with the original prop from many years back or the Jumbo version I have.

I would be interested in knowing, as I'm planning to publish my own handlings for various circumstancies.
Mark.

There's a chapter in The Art of Close-Up vol.1 by Lewis Ganson which may be worth a look.

Thanks for that. I do have the book to hand anyway. Cheers. Mark.

Further to my posting. It's interesting that only one reader has replied to my query. The prop mentioned is very old of course and most likely not used much these days although it's still available in its Jumbo form. I certainly first used it as a teenager and I'm a pensioner now.
For those not having seen it, even in its original form, it is a beautifully made item in brass. It may not be popular for a couple of reasons [1] Fashions - fads - change over time. (2). Despite the quality of the apparatus, finding an ideal handling and an entertaining routine for moving around table hopping or mix & mingle situations, takes a lot of thinking about.

Barry has mentioned a book with three routines therein but, again, generally these are not ideal for table hopping. It really is astounding the amount of practical handling problems that do arise.

This is what I have been working on recently and - hopefully have come up with solutions. Mark.

Magical Wonders have the small ones available at the moment. Paul Howard has both sizes.
