Where is my PM ?

Postby Hodgkinson » Jun 14th, '05, 18:38

Had an email this morning saying there was a new PM for me at TM.
Dutifully logged on and went to my inbox but there is no message to be seen :?

Does anyone know if there is some kind of problem with the boards ?

To the sender of the message - I am not ignoring you I just don't know who you are or what you want

There is a chance that whoever pm'd you changed their mind and deleted it from their outbox before you logged on. The email would have been sent when the submit button was clicked on the pm but subsequently the message itself was removed.

This is the second time I've heard about this in the last week - there may be a problem whereby an alert is sent but not to the right recipient. As soon as Laurence is back with us, we should ask him to check this out.

Ah...just to clarify, what's the difference between my sentbox and my outbox? If I delete something from my outbox, does it vanish from the inbox of the recipient?

I've had two today but only one massage.

Your Out Box is where completed messages sit until the recipient logs on and opens the messages. At that stage they go to your Sent Box. If they're still in the Out Box you can re-open them and edit as much as you like so it's a sort of half way house area.

I would imagine that if you delete something before they've logged on, it must disappear from their In Box as it no longer exists. Perhaps this is where the problems lie - messages advised to the recipeients but deleted before they can log on. It might be one answer.
