Prediction printed on back

Postby Beardy » Aug 30th, '11, 09:38

Hey guys

I want to have a word printed on my back as a prediction for the presentation of a new effect I've been working on.

It needs to be in black and still be there after about 75 minutes. There will not be an interval whereby it can be touched up.

I'm thinking black snazaroo face paint, but does anybody have any better ideas, asides from a permanent tattoo?

Love

Chris

You can get 'tattoo pens' which can look just like (from a distance at least) a genuine tat, they go on just like a sharpie and will happily last hours on 'most' places on the body. There might be an issue with sweating it off though, would require some testing no doubt.

The last time I saw these were in Boots of all places. I'll have a look to see if I can find a link.

EDIT: These are what I'm talking about.

You can buy temporary tattoo film that goes through an inkjet printer. It should last long enough even under sweaty stage conditions, but will look shiny.

Permanent marker will certainly last, if you don't mind it staying on your back for days later.

cut the letters out of black fablon, and stick them onto your back.
or use a grease based make up, rather than snazaroo, which is water based.
or do it on a tee shirt as opposed to your flesh.

if you go for the face paints you can get sealer spray.
Makeupforever or Ben Nye for sealing the outside and barrier spray(SweatStop) to stop from sweating

another option is using cream makeup (grease paint) that clowns use will last through a fair amount of water or sweat (try not to rub it while wet). Once set with powder, you can jump in a pool and provided you don't rub it, it will definitely stay put.

I've a simpler method, Have the word spelled out on your back using duct tape, then find a tanning booth and get a tan. Then rip the duct tape off. Voila. Well you didn't say it had to be a good method.

Alternative to the tanning studio, use fake tan lotion. If you can get the partner of your choice to apply and smooth it in you get the pleasure as a bonus!

Thanks very much for the ideas - I'll test out a few by applying, wearing throughout the day, maybe even going for a run, and then seeing how much "stickability" it has.

I absolutely love the tanning idea, though unfortunately it has to be black so it can be clearly seen from a fair distance.

Temporary tattoos.

You can get a liquid from Charles H Fox (see page 24, which has a few different options): http://www.charlesfox.co.uk/RETAIL_PRICE_LIST_2011.pdf

I think the first option (Kryolan one) was what I used several years ago. I applied a fake heart tattoo with my name on the banner to my girlfriend's shoulder before she went to her firm's Christmas party. Apparently it made a great target for the water pistols that were put on the tables. And it didn't come off! (It did come off eventually, of course, just not from being sprayed with water.)

However, a slightly simpler option might be a temporary tattoo ink pad, such as the ones listed here: http://www.stampin.com/online/accs/pads.htm#tattoo

Those pads seem hard to find in the UK (and I wouldn't recommend ordering from that site, as they use a very expensive courier service for international orders and that doesn't make sense). However, this site has something similar: http://www.bakerross.co.uk/src/COMPARE/ ... ck-F80.htm

Buy a set of repositionable stamp letters, and you can get nice bold letters every time (no need to buy a separate block, as you can use a CD case, but a suitable sized block might help). This alphabet is close to what you probably want in terms of size and font, but the letters are designed to look like they are aged/printed with potato-style stamps: http://inkadinkado.eksuccessbrands.com/ ... habet.aspx

You will get the whole alphabet. :)

The above ideas all sound a bit mucky or hard work. Just use normal Indian ink/black fountain pen ink that you can get from any stationers and paint it on with a thin artists brush. It will stay there until you scrub it off in the bath and once its dry it won't come off on your clothes.
