Which Booktest?

Postby magicollie » Aug 29th, '11, 20:45

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a book test which can be performed walk around or stand up and I was wondering if anyone can help me. You hand someone a book, they take the book and look at any long word on any page and you are able to divine the word one letter at a time. If anyone could help me out or recommend any other good book tests (apart from Marc Paul's which use constantly) that would be great, thank you.

I like Carlyle's take on the Hoy.

Bold. Convincing. Devastatingly effective.

I use mainly Luna and sometimes The Witches Almanac, but then mine is an occult based show.

That sounds like The Mother Of All Booktests to me.

I remember that once you know the first letter of the word, you can confidently state the whole word.

MOAB for walk-around? To be specific, Mr Pacific, you must be having a laugh! (It's great, but neither version is really the sort of thing I'd want to use while walking around.)

Try the Haiku Book Test. Very small and neat, and quite visual. Not exactly "I will name the exact word", but very nice anyway. You can do it as a spoken revelation or, if you are a bit artistic, draw a little picture with a brush marker.

Incandescence might be worth considering, as again the book is fairly small (but nowhere near as small as the Haiku one).

The Economicon - nice idea, but the books don't really look the part. If they'd been more like the ones you get in, say, Ultimate Flashback, they would have been great.
