Hi Vic,

When I wrote my profile not so long ago, I was only buying stuff to impress the nephews - card frame penetration, shrinking cigarette (should've seen the wives face when I done that one to her - classic) other similar stuff. But know its growing into C.U.P.s (see forum)

I've always liked the close up stuff (cards and coins) from when I was a wee lad, but now I'm getting intrested in the 'mind reading' type magic.

Since buiyng some books and tricks, its become a lot more intresting watching TV magic trying to figure out what palms / gimmicks etc they use.

One of my favs is the Royal Card Trick (think thats what its called) where you make the card the spec is thinking of dissappear. Simple yet freaks people out.

Cheers
Rob

Hi Rdw1971,

look like we are taking a similar path. I too had a bunch od PD tricks when I was younger, then got back into again at the end of last year and have been buying like crazy ever since.
I have been a bit erratic, buying what takes my fancy - sponge balls are a big hit with the Kids and TT (silk to panties) gets a laugh from the adults.

I have also be doing some card tricks: two card monty and ultimate card transpo etc, pyro perception and a bunch of other stuff.

I bought a stealth wallet and this has made me more interested in mentalism. I have just finished reading 13 Steps to Mentalism by Corinda and have just received Easy to Master Mental Mysteries.

What mentalism stuff would you recommend?

Hi Gony,

I just bought the Leyser 2020 (impulse purchase). Its expensive but I think its worth the cash.

Not sure what others I'd recomend as I'm only just getting into it myself. But I like seeing the look on peoples faces when they get spooked out.

Cheers
Rob

I too find myself drawn to mentalism (as well as many other strands) as I enjoyed Corinda's 13 steps to mentalism and Burger's Close-up magic I found myself being pulled both ways.

Is the Leyser 2020 all it's cracked up to be? Must admit I haven't seen it in anger yet but have heard a bit about it (and the sell out it is and the fact that everyone has it and (yawn) - sounds good but what do you think (without giving too much away in this medium)? Are your first (expensive) impressions good or bad?

1st Impressions are very good. The gimmick seems well made and works well.

The only downside so far is the size. Not huge but not a small as maybe a mass-produced item could be (if you get my drift)

Did you try magictricks.co.uk for your Leyser?

Cheers
