Photosynthesis by Andrew Mayne

The Effect
A selected card or signed card or thought of word is revealed on a special polaroid photograph which slowly reveals the image. Contains a re usable gimmick which doesn't need any refills.

Cost
£20 from world magic store

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

1-3, some routines are very easy and some contain some sleights.

Review
The effect does play out as described and shown in the video but I'm a little bit at a loss as to what I would use this for, I suppose that's the down side of impulse buying. I'm not a particular fan of the routines shown on the DVD, but then this is a utility gimmick and so I suppose that part of the challenge is to find a way to use this.

Another issue that some people may have is that the photograph isn't going to able to undergo massive scrutiny.

Overall
Overall this does play out as per the video and so if you can find a way to fit this into your routines, then I'd advise to get it.

Unfortunately, I'm having a mental block at the moment, if anyone has any ideas, please feel free to share them

:D

I recently purchased and like it, though I am thinking of uses for it within my bizarre/seance show. The gimmick works well and the ideas on the DVD are good though the method for the signed card is a little fiddly.
Great for the price.

you cant give it away, which was one of Craig & Daves main points against it. And, who uses Polaroid cameras these days?I feel that its a good idea, invented at least 20 years too late.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

David Penn uses a camera in his close-up act. I really like this and it has some interesting bizarre possibilities.

I have one of these and love it.

I would never use it for its intended use, ie signed card etc, seems a little pointless to me. But as a collector of haunted items and all the wierdness that goes with, its perfect and has already found a home.

For those of you who have the Box of Delights seance kit, photosynthesis can play a very interesting role in the presentation

Stephen, you've read my mind and I've been trying it out. Needs a clearer image.
