Is this the same as Guy Hollingworth's Torn and Restored Card trick shown on 50 Greatest Magic Tricks?

Oh, almost exactly the same. Apart from all the differences.

Yeah a lot of people have said it's good up until you destroy the whole thing and go "Well this was just an illusion!" It pretty much defeats the entire purpose of doing a T&R card.. Specially how with most, where you hand out the T&R card as a keep sake/souvenir.

This release has got to be the biggest attempt at trolling the magical community I have ever seen. I liken it to producing a dead dove on stage.

Now we all know what the response would be by any apologists about this one. "Well you have to destroy it to cover the method" well then your method for a torn and resotred card is flawed, plain and simple. For the benefit of handing out that piece of impossibility to someone, I will gladly use an extra card per performance to do so. At 0.02 pence per pasteboard, I'd be a friggin idiot not to.

*scraps plans for dead dovepan routine*

One of the comments on the site is "This is strong, and I love the patter at the end. Clearly this is impossible.".

The patter is awful. "I need to destroy it". Smacks of panic of being found out.

Perhaps I'm a little slow, but I believe the whole thing was a spoof right? I mean it couldn't be serious because it started out really bad, and only got worse.

Apparently the guy who created it said he's done it at weddings and apparently the effect is good. Though I am going to call BS on it, of course he is going to try an hype up his own effect. Rather than admitting that it was c*** (not the best).

The effect itself has been talked about for awhile.. The majority of people pretty much agree on how the ending is just stupid and how there are better T&R's out there that don't destroy the card just to hide the evidence.

I think we've got a case here of someone selling method rather than trick.
And being fair, that method is nice, but there's better; so I'm out.
