At this point she INSISTS that I tell her how they are done, she starts ringing colleagues up that I have performed on before...she gets nowhere but still persists..
I think at this point I'll leave her with one to blow her mind then leave it, I ask her to shuffle the cards, I have a ready prediction on offer that she pockets and then she deals the cards into three piles, she turns over the top three cards and they match her prediction in her pocket...ok so now she flips, she NEEDS to know now and is trying anything and everything to get me to spill the beans, I'm not saying anything at all....first time reaction like this, I mean I've had the "go on, tell us how its done" before but never to this extent
She then says, right I'll just look on YouTube...and as I was leaving her she was looking at "magic tricks revealed", my God didn't realise how many co**s on YouTube...so 45 minutes later she's STILL checking out card tricks online!!
Doubt she'll find what shes looking for, but was interested in peoples thoughts on this kind of OTT reaction?!

Nothing wrong with that. All I'll say is that I did the same for a friend, and his disappointment in learning the method was something to consider.
Eg. Imagine the simplest card trick that uses a key card to locate a chosen card. This effect impressed him. Explaining it solicited the following reaction: "Oh, is that it?" combined with a very sad face.
I'd think twice about spoiling the magic that you have created. But it's your choice, naturally.

You haven't seen her lol

Now your job is to reconstruct your routine and see where you left the magic and started performing a puzzle, it is in there somewhere. And really it is one of the most difficutl aspects of magic.
Once the begging started you further added to the spectators 'frustration' by doing one more trick, in doing that you just about said, 'oh you can't catch me, here I'll even show you another, see how great I am."
The proper response is impossible to say because it depends on your perfomance style, your personal style and your level of experience. I would have tried for something like, "hey it's magic just enjoy it for what it is." or something to that effect and walked away.
Too often our ego's get in the way and we say to much.
Best thing now is to perform for somebody else. Each performance to new people will add to your experience and you will soon figure it all out.

I wish I had the nerve to bring some cards into work, but as I'm an engineer in an office full of engineers (who figure out how to make things work on a daily basis) I think the analytical minds might need some serious misdirection to fool.

just beacause someones an engineer, doesn't mean they're anymore inclined to work out a trick than someone who.....for the sake of arguments say..... paints stripes on humbugs!!!!
you should try performing a few things for your colleagues..... you may be pleasantly suprised![]()
