Psychic charging £1.53/min also claimed £33,000 in benefits.

The first one to say "I bet she didn't see that coming" gets a slap. Oh no, it's me! Ow, ow, ow!

Nothing to add, except that it made me snort my water through my nose. In the middle of the mess that is the start of term, I think that might have made my day ^^

Are university lecturers allowed to beat (sorry, "physically chastise") students like teachers are? Mind you, a big group of insecure freshers, away from home for the first time, and you so clued-up on horror... It could be a great year! :D

That's disgusting. Totally out of order. I've never been so upset in all my life.

'The Daily Mail.' indeed  . I've never seen anything so absurd and horrific in all my life.

There should be some sort of law against it. It's political correctness gone mad! Allowing emotionally sub-normal people to write a newspaper.

etc etc.

The comments are the best bit... "Steven" in Surrey writes: "The country is full of "psyhics" living on benefits at our expenses. She was just the unlucky one."

Full, I tell you! Full!

Damn psyhics, coming over here from Psyhicsadonia, taking our women and sleeping with our jobs. It wouldn't have happened under Thatcher. Bring back hanging, corporal punishments too good for them, prison is just like a holiday camp.

....prison is just like a holiday camp....

though i don't conform to most of what is written in such tabloids......i can tell you for a fact that prisons are indeed like holiday camps and are in no way a proper detterant for criminals.

so this woman got 33,000 in benefits and lord only knows how much in psychic phone calls............. not ONE penny of that went on hair care products by the looks of it!!! :P

Not over here. I was shocked at the state of our prisons. Victorian buildings, small six foot by ten foot cells that held up to four, bare damp stone walls, * pot under the bed, one shower between forty eight men.

When I was a reporter one of my colleagues wrote an article about a psychic who had opened an office on the main street of our city. She was going big-time. A week later she dropped dead of cancer. Makes you wonder about her powers.

Funnily enough I had written an atricle about the same psychic a few years previously, revealing that the woman used the very same canned reading on every client. She blatently forced the same cards on me and my then girlfriend. I recognised all the moves.

After the article - which should have been devastating to her if she had read it properly - she sent me a lovely thank you card. Funny old world.

think its about time we took note from ireland then!!! :P

the problem is prison will never be a detterant for some because they are beyond the point of help......they are that criminalised that they will never be any different. But the kids today (sounding like an old man here) have no regard for the laws (over in england anyway) or anyhting for that matter because they know how much of a coushy time they'll have inside!! that and they have no fear for authority anymore.....criminals are getting younger and more ruthless as the years go on!! they need nipping at the bud ASAP and if prisons were made to be what they were intended for, with strict discipline and none of this TV and arts n crafts nonsense that criminals get these days.... things may change for the better!!
im not implying that people be denied their basic living necessaties (sp?) i.e, hot food, showers, access to reading materials etc etc...... but things like T.V's in cells and other such privelages should only be granted to those who are deservant of it!!

but im sure no one needs reminding of what happened the last time they tried to take prisoners TV's away from them.....so i guess this is a naive pipedream of mine

kind of sttraying off topic here so ill end the rant now :P

It is really a fuss about nothing. Most psychics don't earn a lot from those phone lines anyway. And oddly enough the psychics often get scammed by the companies. Their powers aren't that strong enough to forewarn them about it. Mind you I did well from psychic phone lines in Ireland but there was a major difference. I wasn't actually giving live readings! It was all voice activated. I had four major phone lines. A tarot line, a palmistry line, a chinese numerology line and an I Ching Line. I also had 12 astrology phone lines all depending on what sign of the zodiac you were. I even had a magic trick line which died a death so there is no doubt a subtle moral there.

They were all promoted in newspapers. The deal was that I would do their horoscopes (bloody tedious job) for free if they would promote the phone lines. Under each horoscope was the astrology phone line for that zodiac sign and I had a display advertisement for the other psychic lines. It worked out well.

I received royalties for years from that even after I moved to Canada. Cheques were coming in from Ireland for a few years before the company was sold. It was wonderful doing readings by phone when I wasn't even there!

Irish phone books from around 20 years ago or so had details of my phone lines in the opening pages.

I can confirm that the money earned from the phone lines for tarot readers is very little. And that people who phone up for readings are usually very rude.
