How best to share ideas

Postby The4thCircle » Oct 1st, '11, 08:52

Now before we kick off, I've read the "I'm special" post and I'm under no delusions that anything I come up with will be particularly amazing. That said I had an idea last night which I think is too good to just tell people.

I don't want to make any money from this, but I would like to ensure it doesn't fall to the public like other similar tricks have. What's the best way to achieve this goal? How to share an idea freely and yet restrict it to the magic community?

Magic Magazine Abra Cadabra used to accept submissions of ideas roughly of this scale, but of course they've ceased publication.

If no one can think of a better idea, one idea I did have was to get it posted into the restricted section.

(But Stacy - you can't access the restricted a section)

I already thought of that, and I know I can't beg my way in there, but you all seem a trustworthy bunch, and I thought maybe one of you could post it there for me. Obviously

Any takers?

Basically what I mean by this is, would anyone like to hear my idea, pass judgment on it, and if it seems worthy, spread it to a wider audience that doesn't actually include myself?

Oh, I forgot to mention, it's a business card trick. I was playing with a stack of business cards at a trade show last week and doing the old self printing business card trick, when I wondered "How could I make it print both sides?"

This is my solution to that.

I am reliably informed by Alec Kobain, to whom I delivered my method, that this has now been posted somewhere special.

Thank you, Alec.
