Cups and Balls / Chop Cup - London shops

Postby Stewart » Jun 17th, '05, 05:35

I was wondering... I have long wanted to replace my Morrisey cups & balls combo set (w/ chop cup as one cup).

I've never much liked working with it... and the chop cup has a very weak charge these days for some reason....

I have looked in some local shops and they don't have anything that really "floats my boat".

What I think I will do is replace the set with a cups and balls set... and a separate chop cup.

I really want to get something of high quality that looks great. I love copper and brass.

A) Does anybody have a good recommendation as to where to get either or both a cups and balls set and/or a chop cup? Additional things I was looking for was handmade balls etc.... I really want to spice some otherwise mundane tricks up with a nicer look.

B) Is London perhaps a good place to look for these? I will be there in a week and thought that since both have a large chunk of their history in England, perhaps I might be able to find a nice set there.

C) Any reallly good magic shops in London I should visit?

Thanks.

Rings 'N' Things 2 make very good sets of Cups and also very nice Chop Cups. These are, however, at the higher end of the market.

It really depends how much you want to spend?

Davenport's in London is a good place to look, but if I remember rightly, there selection of Cup sets isn't huge, but the sets they do have are reasonably priced.

I hope that helps :) [/url]

All the best,

actually... I don't mind investing in a quality set.

are the RNT products good quality? I've never heard of them before, so I don't know.

Also, it seems like anything I'd get, I'd have to wait until they are producing other limited sets... the sets they have for sale right now aren't appealing too much to me. The bells of St. Mary set looked nice though... too bad it's sold out.

Also, what's the deal with the Phoenix cups? What is a Phoenix cup? Is it a cups and balls set with a more deceptive design for better finale loads?
