Making new sticky cards less sticky

Postby moonbeam » Oct 12th, '11, 23:39

I couldn't think of a better way to phrase it ............

Anyway here's the deal:

I've recently re-discovered an old trick, which I quite like, which makes use of the E****** Count.
I can perform the move effortlessly (ish !!!) with my normal deck of cards.
The problem is I need to use 2 packets of 4 cards - 3 blanks faced cards in each. However, the blank cards are VERY sticky and keep sticking together when I'm "counting" them. How can I make them less sticky without having to buy fanning powder, as I don't want to buy something that I'll be using on 6 cards, never to be used again ???

Thanks in advance :)

Lordy, lordy...is fanning powder really that expensive, these days?

[Googlie-google]

£3-£4, for what will be a lifetime's supply?

Sounds like a darn fine deal, if you ask me, bud

Try a very light dusting - a tiny amount - of baby or talcum powder.

But doesn't that cost about the same as fanning powder? :?

Not if you already have some.

I think I was erring on the possibility that moonbeam didn't, though, yes? ;)

I've tried talcum powder and that didn't really make any difference - fanning powder it is then.
I'm not too bothered about buying some ( honestly I'm not ... ) .... I was just hoping someone would have some secret recipe that I was unaware of for making my cards less sticky.

Thanks for the heads up anyway

I've only tried talcum powder on old linen finish cards and matt business cards. Maybe it's not so good for plastic coated.

I even tried polishing them with a cloth and a dab of polish ..... I can verify that it doesn't work

I heard of people using car wax polish on their cards.

Actually, that's not too far from the truth! I believe it was a tin of good ol' fashioned Turtlewax polish and it made the cards very slippery indeed. I'm searching for the details of the story right now but it was a few years ago so that may make tracking it down somewhat difficult.
