Sealing the ends of Rope

Postby Heckler » Oct 14th, '11, 10:29

So I've just bought 50 ft of magic rope. Now previously whenever I've used rope it's come with a specific routine and the rope is already in the right lengths pre-sealed, so my question is, whats the best way to seal the ends of the lengths I cut from the 50 ft?

A dab of PVA glue on each end usually does the trick :D

I'm *always* serious mate

But - for the record - yes, PVA will do the job nicely for you, honest! :D

A quick fix, is to use Micropore tape, which blends in with the rope. Its also less intrusive when handling the ropes, as being a fabric tape, it feels the same.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

The great thing about using PVA is that is makes the end nice and hard and easy to find and grab hold of. (anyone bingo's that and you're dead! )

Whistles innocently

(Also important to note that you should ensure your end is dried properly, before using, or you'll end up with very sticky fingers    )

And if you have nothing but time on your hands...you could fold the the ends of the rope to the inside and sew the ends. But a little dab of glue and perhaps some of the tape and you are good to go.

Also if you have not yet done so, you may want to think about coring the rope, (pulling out the inside) makes the rope that much softer and plyable.
