I still have a job!

I have escaped redundancy this morning, not sure if I'm pleased or not?

Be pleased. Redundancy is horrible.

I've been redundant twice before I know it's horrible. I'm sat at work with people nearby who are "at risk". Today is not a nice day for them.

For me, as Mark says, I'm doing a job I'm not particularly engrossed with but next week I will be redeployed to a different role under a restructure so maybe work will get better? For now I'm happy to be paying my mortgage up until Christmas.

I narrowly avoided redundancy, by dint of our department being so hideously understaffed that a consultant brought in to make cuts recommended we take on more staff!

What did stick in my craw was that year, when a great number of people were made redundant in November, the company blew an absolute fortune on a lavish Xmas do. Needless to say I didn't attend and in fact the event was attended very few people below upper management (who needless to say weren't cut).

Be glad mate. I'm pleased for you even if you're ambivalent.

I was at risk during the banking fiasco and it's not nice.

No excuses - see you at the next London meet! :D

Been there.. still am in a kind of a way, since im on short term contracts.
Enjoy the moment but remember that every time you escape, you get closer to the chop next time, so look for something else.
And, do think of the positive side to redundancy. IE, redundancy money.
I hope that your company has a good scheme. :)

things kind of work out ok, if you stay positive, and remain practical.

D.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

No I am pleased, I think I'd already got my head round going as we've known this was coming for a while, that I'd put plans in place and now I don't necessarily need to.

Re the London meets - I hope so - it depends if the new role includes London travel, I'm hoping it does.

Hi Dale, yes they do have a good scheme, I think due to the fact I've been here two months short of the necessary two years I would have got nothing.

Already put things in motion (www.acetees.co.uk) for an alternate income but it's a slow starter...
