Card Sleights

Postby highlander » Jun 15th, '05, 19:36

is there any dvd's out there that teach you the handling off cards? I dont mean card sleights as such but just ways off holding cards , fancy moves that you can do just as someone watches you maybe before card games etc.. When you see dvd's getting advertised they show really fancy moves like different cuts and things. But the dvd is never about that sort of thing . Sorry if this doesn't make any sense.

please help

Oz Pearlman's Born to Perform Magic is excellent as it teaches the basics of handling cards. It teaches you to hold the deck and some fancy moves. (Also learn some tricks in the process). You learn 2 very fancy cuts that are simple to master.

You could also try Showoff with Cards. You learn some basic flourishes such as fanning. Then moving on to all these expert moves! The teaching isn't all THAT good but still teaches. You learn some pretty fancy cuts and stuff.

If you are quite Handy with cards already then get the Dan and Dave System DVD there are some really stunning flourishes on that DVD but don't expect to do them in 5 minutes they take real practice.

If you are new, I would not recomment Show Off With Cards. If you are new, learn the basics. Oz is a good one, but I remember many years ago, when I started with magic, I bought the books "Card College" volumes. They are great.

No problem!

Showoff with cards is quite good if you like flourishy things. But the teaching is quite poor. If you want to go extreme (and I mean REALLY extreme), then go for Brian Tudor's Generation Extreme. However, I do not really recommend this to beginners AT ALL! I haven't even got it! Just look at the demo clip!
