Take the test - it only takes a few minutes.

You need 75% (18/24) or higher to pass.

I falied ..... miserably lol ..... looks like I'd better get my bags packed and head off to the port ....... byeeeeeee :(

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Wow...failed badly...although some of the questions were pretty silly.

The one about Halloween for example!

Are you watching closely? Then I'll begin...

Just for the record, I scored 11/24 .... I was too embarrassed to put my score on .... but seeing some of the other scores makes me feel a bit better now :)

You scored 21 out of a possible 24

Well done! You are above pass level. You have, according to the test, successfully revealed your knowledge of the English language and of life in the United Kingdom. What would you change about the test if you could?

Yay me! I get to stay!

I have a couple of thoughts about this however, firstly I am sure that the questions were chosen carefully to imply difficulty. A sample of 24 from a bank of X number can always be skewed to look too easy (Halloween question) or too difficult (for me % of muslims, number of children under 19 and 1980's immigration). Secondly, if somebody wishes to become a citizen of a country then the test is it not so much a show of patriotism in my view but to evidence a willingness to educate yourself about a country you wish to be a part of.

I remember being in Australia and passing comment that the Thunderbirds film "ruined" my childhood memories. They did not have a clue what I was on about, Gerry Anderson did not exist to them. Would knowing about him make them a better British Citizen? On it's own maybe not, however the millions of tiny bits of British culture we know without realising it are what differentiates a citizen from a visitor.
