Or if you state the harsh, cold truth that Derren's recent output is not really that great....

I thought that the show was a nice enough but for me just seemed to be lacking some sort of excitement or kick.

Or him. I wonder if he looks good in orange.

I enjoyed the show, but I agree that it didn't have much of a kick. It was either going to work, or it wasn't. In some respects, it was a bit like a documentary, rather than an entertainment show, but it didn't really prove anything either. Maybe that was the problem.

I think the "Experiments" are supposed to be more documentary-like, rather than a whiz-bang mentalism act. They're really mini-essays illustrated by experiments.

The second one, about mob mentality, was purely a documentary. Knowing the point of it beforehand, it was actually rather draggy to watch the whole experiment play out -- and yet it was necessary to watch the whole experiment in order to really feel the ending. And that lump-of-lead-in-the-stomach feeling at the end was the point of the programme.

People acts like idiots when they are in a crowd or on tv - shock!!

Next week, using psychology and "real" people Derren films a bear to see what he does in the woods. The week after that, via a hypnotic experiment, Derren gets The Pope to reveal what religon he is.....

The Experiments are more of an insult to the intelligence than your average Jim Carrey film.

I was in a pub last night and got talking to the regulars about this show, they all seemed to think it was amazing. One guy even went as far as saying Derren is a god!

Lay people are still loving him, whilst this is the case he is going to carry on doing what he does.

Normally The Wichwood in Ashton, its right behind where I live.

But this was The Belgrave in Darwen, I was there to see Vanderbelt, thats why the locals were talking about Derren Brown probably.

But as the premise was so flawed, it didn't really work as a documentary or an experiment. In the previous show, he'd stressed that it was important for the guy not to know he was being filmed, as this might affect his behaviour. Apparently, putting people in a TV studio won't have the slightest effect.
