A magical tirck wen the magician is not there

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

Unfortunately, if - as you say in your post above - cash is an issue for you, coming onto a magic forum, and simply asking to be given secrets for free is really asking for trouble

Lol ... I didn't realize that in order for me to learn a magic trick I need to be loaded with cash. I thought magic is for everyone who are eager to learn and, you know, cares about it... I didn't ask you tell me the meaning of life or the secrets of david copperfield. Or even yours as a matter of fact. What I asked for was a pattern that is more of a math problem than magic trick really just because I needed to save time. It's almost as if I was to ask you how to perform a 'missing finger'. I didn't do it just cuz I am lazy, or because I just wanted to see how it's done. I did it because I need it and any kind of help was more than welcome. Now I had heard that a magician never tells his secrets to the audiance, but never have I thought that he wouldn't speak a word even to a fellow magician, I dare say magician because anyone who is performing for an audiance should count as such as long as he performs with passion (even the guy with only one viewer). And if there is a real reason if you know the trick and you are not sharing it after all that was said in here is just pure arrogance. Espesially if you know it, you don't use it yet you wouldn't help a fellow out. There is no reason to be selfish because I really doubt that this is the heart stopping trick that will put your name in the pages of history since I almost have it unlocked. Anyway ... My point was - I came for adivce and that's it. And back where I come from that's for free. I didn't sign in to have a mouthfull with anyone or talk trash, this I can do on my own time and off the internet. I am not the type of guy to keep his tongue when I neeed help I go get it.
And just what asking for trouble means? What are you gonna do bully me on PM? Ban me from a magician club or something... Bo-ho-ho! Man please. Don't speak empthy threats to my account. I see internet haters, trolls and bullys and thrust me you don't wanna fit in this type of crowd.

The dude has it right. He small time magicians order their stuff from Greece or Thrucky and the big timers from UK US or RUS. In any case ... You find one good magician shop in BG I'll tip my hat to you. P.s. it's kind of creepy what you just did Mandrake :P

I understand your viewpoint (and I think the moderators do too), but you have to realise that a lot of magicians would regard your request as a bit rude. A good magician will (normally) not give away secrets. Yes, magicians share with other magicians, but they don't always share everything, and they will normally only share a secret with someone they know fairly well. People here are very generous about sharing more general advice. Adding a time limit to your demand really won't have improved your chances.

Someone I knew once asked me if I could do a trick over the phone with her. I used a Jim Steinmeyer trick and also I invented one, but at first I tried the 21 card trick, as this was all I could think of at that moment! I thought it might be a bit more subtle over the phone, but alas she recognised it. So maybe you could use your existing knowledge of self-working tricks to come up with your own version that will work over the phone. If you haven't got time to research a new trick, adapt one you do know.

I don't think this post is going anywhere!

It's turned into a soap box for the guy. There are enough good suggestions on here yet he still feels the need to say I've wasted my life.

I really don't want to have to tell the chap what I think of him, his requests and what he types......

I may have been born yesterday but I stayed up all night.

Agreed.

He has the entire 'net to research with, in his quest to find a free method for the effect he describes.

No easy ride from me, for this kind of poster, I'm afraid to say...

Agreed Alec and, as you know, checking IP's is only one of the things we can do if and when necessary. Locking topics when they're going off course is another.
