What to buy a 4 year old

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

In my experience all crayons tend to become vanishing crayons in one way or another

Penny to dime

and the list goes on. Of course it depends on the six year old.

My list works for four year olds as well. My nephew can do all of the above and he is that age and has been doing it for some time.

Somebody mentioned that old sponge Ball To Square, another great one. Even the colouring book is good for that age, although when they get bored they tend to colour in it.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I'm going to get my Son one trick to practice and when he is ready, he can perform at "show and tell" one Friday

After that I will take the plunge and invest bigger!

Are you watching closely? Then I'll begin...

You say that a 4 year old can master all of these ???
heck, I'm still learning them and there is 50 years difference.

We are all mastering them. Or perhaps they are mastering us.

I should also add that one must remember that my nephew's grandperants, my folks own and operate one of the olders magic shops in Canada (1974). So baby sitting goes something like this:

My Sister: "Mom, can you babysit today?"
My Mother: 'Sure love to drop him by the shop anytime"
Nephew arrives at the shop, my dad shows him an effect, (for arguments sake say its a the change bag) explains it, gives him a little routine with silk flags or something. They go over it a few times. nephew then sits in the back of the store practicing. Customer walks in. My father then sends my nephew out to help the customer. Four year old showing off a change bag is so cute it is almost a guaranteed sale. :D
