Occult Magic 2: Into The Darkness by Freddie Valentine

Postby Lady of Mystery » May 1st, '11, 08:39

I've just finished reading Freddie Valentine's latest offering in his Occult Magic series. Another great book from our own Mr Spooky. The book follows on perfectly from the first one by taking some of the ideas that were introduced in there and expanding on them. Freddie's writing style fun, easy to understand and actually enjoyable to read (unlike some of the magic and mental books that are out there).

Right from the start the book had my mind working, giving me new ideas for my own routines and a ton of things that I can't wit to try out. The book starts with a little chat about creating the right atmosphere for your audience, how to go about getting their imagination working and how to plant a few little psychological seeds in their brain boxes.

Freddie also introduces the idea of turning a member of your audience into a trance medium and having them recieve messages from the friendly ghosties that inhabit the place or send them back in time to witness the place ina bygone era. This is the part of the book which really got me thinking, Freddie gives us some brilliant tips on everything from how to choose the best person the be the medium to how to handle and treat that person when you have chosen them.

The book also goes on to expand on the idea of displying various strange and wonderful items to your audience, some ideas of the sorts of things to display and how they should be treated. A very good section on common questions gives you a list of the sorts of things that you might be asked by your audience that, if not answered well could really trip you up. Freddie gives us some ideas of answers to these questions.

Another brilliant book, I can't wait for the next in the series. 10 out of 10 for me.
